How Do I Know I'm A Christian

How Do I Know That I Am A Christian
There are two BIG reasons for finding out for definite that you're a Christian and the 1st one is that if you are a Christian but lack assurance then you have no peace or joy!  That means that you're going to be looking in the mirror a lot instead of out the window!  It also means you have no confidence and the 2nd one is Jesus said that there would be MANY people who thought they were Christians and even do miracles who find out on the Day of Judgment that they had never actually been one.

How Do We Know That God Exists

We know God exists because of creation.

If you go to an art gallery and look at a great painting, you know that it didn't paint itself. If you find a digital watch on a beach you know that all its complex parts didn't just form themselves and then put themselves together in perfect working order. And yet the very simplist forms of life are mind blowingly more complex than a digital watch.

And the brush strokes of nature are infinitely more intricate than any work of Picasso. The Bible says that "the heavens declare the glory of God." True! In fact you really have to want to believe that there isn't a God to not see His finger prints all over creation!

Being in the right place at the right time with the right words in the right spirit.

It is so easy to be in the right place at the right time with the right words for someone; words in season even (Prov. 15 vs. 23) but with the wrong spirit – a harsh and crushing spirit which knocks people down rather than builds them up.  Or we can be in the right place, at the right time with the right spirit but not the right words from God because we haven’t hidden spiritual wisdom in our hearts (Ps. 119 vs. 11).  This means we have lots of desire and heart but ultimately we are of limited eternal value and assistance.  Again we can be in the right place with the right spirit and words but at the wrong time!  So we are too direct when there is a need for gentleness and kindness because the person we are talking to isn’t ready for the more confrontational word yet, in Matt. 12 vs. 20 Jesus reminds us not to bruise an already broken reed – there are times when we need to be aware of people’s emotional capacity to receive a stronger word.  And so the combinations go on!
